Eureka!

Well the Scifi channel has come up with another gem, Eureka. What a fun pilot the other day. Basically here is the jist of the show "Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, Eureka is a seemingly ordinary town whose residents lead ordinary lives … at least to the naked eye. Shrouded in secrecy, the picturesque hamlet is actually a community of scientific geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research".

Why the big networks ever come up with great ideas I will never understand. The best shows on tv are not on the networks, they are on SciFi, HBO, and F/X.

24, House, Lost and Veronica Mars are the best network shows, but come on they cannot touch Battlestar Galactica, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck or Deadwood.

Young grasshopper... it is not that the networks can't buy the good shows, it's that they choose not to. They are deemed to risky for the mainstream target advertisers, I mean audiences.

I totally forgot about 4400 and the Dead Zone on USA an Entourage on HBO. So many show so much Tivo time.

It is just a little interesting that Joel Gretsch whol plays Tom Baldwin on the 4400, was a military guy on Taken the 10 part scifi miniseries done by Spielberg just before the 4400 was on.

You can watch the pilot, albiet choppy on Scifi.com, or it will be on again before next weeks episode.

I enjoyed Eureka too. I liked the deadpan writing, but I wasn't all that thrilled with the lead guy. Seemed a little wooden at times.
